  • Late report on Thanksgiving

This is the Thanksgiving table I ate at.  I called it the “neverending dosterhon”(dosterhon=table in Uzbek).  We had chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and passed around a very SMALL dish of cranberry sauce (which we don’t have here).  There were about 40 people, including about 20 kids!  Mostly Americans, but a few non-Americans as well. Mostly families, but some singles as well!  We listened to the Thanksgiving story (which I had forgotten/or never knew), sang some old-school songs, and then played some fun games, including Scrabble and Dutch Blitz (aka Snertz).    By the way, Dutch Blitz is an awesome game that everyone should play. And FU-GED-DABOUT playing this game with regular cards, which most people do – you gotta get the Dutch cards!  Awesome.

Finally, I’m thankful (besides family, friends, health)….

    • that this world is not all there is

    • for coffee

    • for the ability to enjoy delicious food

    • for times when someone says something exactly when you need to hear it

    • that prayer can change hearts, not just situations

    • for digital cameras
