  • The electricity in my apartment hasn't been working for the last 24 hours.  All the other apartments have electricity, though, so my immediate thought was: oops, it's because I didn't pay... for six months!  It's the same with my phone bill - it's just that it's kind of a pain to pay it. I have to read the meter myself, write out the information, then go to this place to pay it.  I have gone for six months before without paying it and they never turned it off, but at least my whole building didn't get punished because of me (that happens in other buildings sometimes)...

  • You have to read your own meter?  interesting...

  • ahrim! pay your bill!!

  • yeah, that would be extra-not-good if your entire blding had to suffer. that sounds like a lot of work just to pay one bill!

  • Okay, so like that would NEVER work in Peru -- people would invent random numbers and only pay when they felt like it! I understand about putting off paying bills, though. Wait in this line. No, wait, oops, wrong line -- sorry, I know you just waited two hours, but you need to go to THIS line. And they will give you a piece of paper with your number so you can go sit and wait in THAT line. Then, when you get to the desk, they will tell you that the bill is expired, because the company sent it two days after it was due, so you have to go to the bank to pay it instead. Why do you think my phone got cut off last month? Who likes paying bills, anyway?

  • mom worries when your phone doesn't work
