Thoughts as I am back in my home country:
- Coming back to my "home", I was happy to finally be able to eat beef ... (though I think I *could do* vegetarian in India... paneer, lentils, curried veggies...yum yum).... my roommate greeted me with a dinner of some cooked ground beef and rice... yummy...
- .... but sad to think about how behind "MY" country is economically... and in product quality. The goods in India, much of it made there, is really good quality and affordable! The goods made here - maybe affordable, but very low quality.
- Similarities in words between HINDI and UZBEK... pretty cool!
- At the Red Fort in Agra, where the Taj Mahal is, the guide kept saying to us "this used to be gold... but the British government took it" and "this used to have stones... but the British government took it"... and they call Americans imperialists! Indiana Jones was always trying to get artifacts away from the Nazis to put into museums, not to keep for himself!
- The movie Napoleon Dynamite has appeal with people that you think it wouldn't and doesn't have appeal with people that you think would. We watched it and quoted it EXTENSIVELY during out time there.
- You don't know SPICY until you've eaten INDIAN SPICY (but I loved it... my nose sniffling, my eyes watering... and I'm still eating away...)
- Living in a developing country gives you an IRON STOMACH. I didn't get sick at all, and I ate Indian STREET FOOD.
- Visiting a country is 10x more enjoyable when you know the language. Or when they know YOUR native language.
Also, I really enjoyed going to the International Church there... and I especially enjoyed the sign that was in the
restroom of the building we met in (the British school):

Dang, I hate it when they restrict me like that. No stores?
Notice: * implies a frozen dessert. But it's just implied. It might not actually be one.
And notice this is a HIGH ORDER RECEIPT. And notice the ketchup stain at the bottom. SICK.
Another beautiful face of India.

that receipt is hilarious! we should start a collection of absurd things from around the world, definitely including bathroom signs translated into strange english -- you remember the one my friend took a picture of in China? it read:
This WC is free of washing
Please leave off after
Pissing or shitting
OMW (um, "oh my word") - you "could do" vegetarian in India?! What happened to the carnivore?
"Tina - come get some dinner. Eat the FOOD!"
you haven't had spicy until you've had sichuan ma la spicy!!
