Nihon BANZAI!!!
Japanese food is so yummy. I consumed a lot of it this weekend, including Japanese afternoon tea at Cha-an (koreanhalfling, we'll need to go when you come to NYC!); and izakaya food (Japanese drinking place)... I can't think of one Japanese food that I don't like.
Thinking about it now makes me hungry:
-onigiri (Japanese rice balls)
- yakisoba (fried noodles with pork and cabbage)
- okonomiyaki (savory pancake with cabbage, pork, seafood)
- all sobas (noodles)
- yakitori (skewers)
- tempura
- hamburger steak
- anything green tea flavored (ice cream; cookies; pound cake)
- shabu shabu or sukiyaki (actually, I'm not ENTIRELY fond of sukiyaki)
- ramen
- sushi and sashimi (of course)
- Japanese salad dressing (carrot/ginger)
- Japanese snacks
MMMMMMMMM.

i'm hungry too.
love your entries, esp. the ones about food. I want to learn how to make okonomiyaki--though do they sell those scary-looking fish flakes at the market?
don't forget katsu dishes.
that all sounds good. except i get a little freaked out by asian snacks with that weird sticky sweet coating...
nihon banzai!! makes me miss my mama...thanks to her, i grew up on all this yummy food. koreanhalfling, those sticky plastic looking coating candies are addictive..beware.:)
you forgot bento boxes and amazing japanese style "american" sandwiches.
